With it being August, school is just around the corner and it is time to get back into that mode! One of the hardest things for me to do is get back into that motivated school mentality after being able to relax all summer.
I was surfing the web and came across a great website that I feel like directly targeted everything I needed to start mentally preparing myself for the fall semester. I found a website and on it is a study assessment skills test, so I printed it out and took it. (Let me say this definitely has me getting into the mental mindset of what I should be like during the school year.)
This 56 question test focused on seven crucial areas needed for success during the school year. I am not going to lie, there were a couple sections that I definitely can improve on, and plan to do so throughout the semester. This test made me really reflect on things I know I've been doing wrong for years, but seeing it on a paper made me really be able to pin point exactly what is wrong with my habits.
Here I have posted my personal final results of the exam, so you can see that I definitely have some sections to work on.
I highlighted the areas I desperately need improvement on. |
So the real question is...how will I remember throughout the semester?
Well, by keeping this inside the clear slip on my main binder, I can consistently see everyday what I need to improve on and even write daily/weekly goals in my agenda to achieve to score better when I retake this test by the end of the semester to view progress. I also put a paper of a list of everything I need to improve on and how I will do it. This is the most important part of the test: analyzing your results and figuring out what you will do to make your score better next time.
Remember that this test is to help you and allow you to guide yourself towards success academically. Don't worry if you have a bad score, because that means you get to work on improving yourself. And if you feel like you have a great score, then continue what you are currently doing or make a goal to get a perfect score when you retake the exam at the end of the semester.
I am a sophomore in college, however, I think this exam is great for anybody who reads this post, regardless of your age or grade level. It is never too early or too late to improve yourself as an academic. Hopefully with this test you can work towards improving yourself as I am going to try myself this semester.
XOXO,
The Californian Belle
